Coaches

Jill Drake

I am currently a Level 3 Trampoline coach and I love my job!  I have been in Revelstoke for 10 years with my family.  My husband, Matt, and I have three children, Fia, Rylan and Ella.  The 5 of us, our dog, cat and horses, call Revelstoke home.  We love the mountains, this beautiful little town, and all they have to offer.

I grew up in Halifax, Nova Scotia and was an artistic gymnast .  I started coaching at 12 years old not realizing what I was getting myself into.  I continued to coach all through University at Dalhousie where I completed my BSc in Kinesiology.

Upon completion my husband and I left Nova Scotia for South East Asia.  We travelled for about a year and ended up in Japan working as teachers for 5 years teaching English in Sapporo.  We skied, enjoyed delicious food, and fell in love with the Japanese culture.  At the end of that adventure we made our way back to Canada and eventually Revelstoke BC.

I have been working at the Acrobats for 9 years and we have come a long way!  A new facility, increased numbers, and success Provincially and Nationally.  We have the biggest Competitive team ever.  We are competing Provincially and Nationally and have brought home medals from each National Championship we have attended.  I am proud of the Club we have become.  I look forward to delivering quality programming to our community for many more years.

-Jill Drake, Head Coach Revelstoke Acrobats Club

Maryjoy

Hi! I’m Maryjoy, although pretty much everyone around Revelstoke knows me as MJ (don't let my mother know!). I’m the tumbling coach at Revelstoke Acrobats and have been part of this awesome club for nearly three years.

I grew up in Australia doing artistic gymnastics, but I was also that kid who was always on the go—competing in athletics, cross-country running, playing futsal and soccer. Life was busy, sporty, and full of movement, which hasn't really changed much as now I'm keeping up with my children!

Originally, I came to BC chasing the ski bum dream (as one does) and totally fell in love with the mountains, the seasons, and the amazing community in Revelstoke. Fast forward over 10 years, and my partner Declan and I now have three beautiful kids—two daughters and a brand new baby boy.

My coaching journey started when Jill spotted our eldest daughter in a Parent & Tot class and encouraged me to get involved. From there, I haven’t looked back. I love coaching, learning alongside such a strong mentor like Jill, and being part of the vibrant and supportive gym community.

Revelstoke Acrobats is such a special place, and I feel lucky to be a part of it, sharing my love of movement, flipping, and having fun with the next generation of athletes.

Danica Secord

I am a Level 1 coach, and I was born and raised in Revelstoke. Prior to starting my gymnastics journey, I was a competitive figure skater.  I practiced both gymnastics and skating before deciding to solely focus on gymnastics.

I started my gymnastics journey in the tumbling program when I was nine.  I moved over to the rec program for one season and then onto the competitive team for trampoline.

I have been competing since 2019, and over the last two years I have started my journey in coaching.

I graduated high school in June of 2025 and am now working as a regular coach along side our head coach, Jill Drake.

Kenadie Stefura

Hi! My name is Kenadie, and I am a recent graduate from Revelstoke Secondary School.

I was born in Tilbury, Ontario and moved to Revelstoke when I was eight years old. I began my gymnastics journey with Jill three years later in 2019, while also balancing competitive swimming. I am grateful for the time when I was a multi-sport athlete as it helped increase not only my physical strength but also my work ethic. Along the way I decided that I wanted to switch my goals and focus soley on gymnastics. I am happy that I did because the extra energy input into training allowed me to climb through levels and eventually make it to the national stream.

For the last year I have been taking coaching courses to receive my Comp 1 certification, and I am grateful that I get to take on more responsibilities this year. Alongside Danica, I am in charge of the recreational trampoline program as well as our pre-competitive program. It's an amazing full circle moment to be coaching the classes where I began all those years ago and to help teach the next generation of our club.
